The motor siezed up on it after getting really loud and then finall simply hummed. I am going to replace that since this dishwasher would be quite expensive to replace. My question is…should I change the pump seal that sits in the bottom of the tub? It looks OK, and doesnt leak now, but now that my dishwasher is upside down awaiting a motor (W10239404), I fear it will. You can run your finger across the seal in teh tub and it will be black on your finger. Plus, the ‘tabs’ that hold it all together seem very loose.
The motor was simple to take out and the new one comes with impellers and seals as a unit.
So, if I get another pump seal (8268395)…does it go on dry? I see some sort of yellow grease type stuff around the seal underneath the dishwasher…what is it and do I need to get something to put on it?
It runs, but its a LOT louder than the motor with the bad bearings. There is a buzzing noise that is alleviated when I push on the motor while its running. It is seated and the screw is tight. I was going to mess with it a few minutes after running, but dam near blistered my fingers on the motor…thing runs much hotter than I would expect…like touching a hot iron!
No clue. Ideas? I mean, you can’t really screw up the install of this thing. What is the deal? The chopper blade is in the slot so the base of the blade itself sits resting on its screen. Im about 30 minutes of further repair on this before it ends up at the curb. How do I trouble shoot this? I can’t run the motor without it in the washer to test anything.
Sounds like something went wrong with your install.
You should be able to turn the motor armature with minimal force and it looks like something is binding.
