This doesn’t happen all the time, but occasionally, we open the dishwasher to cold and wet dishes. The dry cycle was turned on, just not working. Seems to happen about every 3-4 washes.
If the dishwasher is placed into a service diagnostic mode (see attached image), does the clean light flash a set amount of times, pause, then flash again at the beginning and end of the diagnostic mode? What flash patterns show up, if any at all (example: flash 3 times, pause, flash 2 times)?
Pressing the normal wash, china gentle, express wash, and repeating this pattern two more times should enter into the diagnostic mode. If all of the touchpad buttons operate properly but the unit will not enter into a diagnostic mode, and since the heating failure is in the failure pattern that it is, the main control would be the likely cause of failure. Finally got it into diagnostics. There are definitely particular keys to press. I tried the ones on the left a dozen times, and nothing. So, I moved to “bottom rack, top rack, smart dry”… and then it worked. All LEDs came on…I closed the door, and it began showing E/F codes and then ran cycles. When I came back, and it was done… There were no lights on/flashing. However, I didn’t babysit it. Should I be standing there while it runs the cycles? I did not hear any tones, but again, I didn’t stand there and wait while it ran the cycles.
If there is an error code, the clean LED should flash within two minutes of activating the diagnostic mode to indicate a consumer error. At the end of the diagnostic mode, the clean LED will flash if there was a failure found during the diagnostic test. If an error code flash pattern does not show up at any point, the main control is the cause of failure. If there is an error code flash pattern that shows up, we would want to diagnose that particular code.
Then noticed a drip in the lower left corner…I’m sure that is separate. It did feel warm when opening the door. No lights came on. I did not see the clean LED flash, but could of missed it. I don’t have time now, but will try again later and look for the flashing clean LED
If there have not been any leaks noticed prior to this, it may be a fluke. For the consumer error F6E4 and F6E3, they reference an overfill issue and an oversuds issue. If the water has not had an excessive amount of suds and has not overfilled (filled with more than 1” of water above the filter plate), it may further reinforce a control failure.
