Why did you replace the water valve originally? Is it properly connected and plugged in?
The water from the water dispenser was just a trickle. The ice maker was working fine. Now the water dispenser is great but there is no water going to the ice maker. The ice maker is turned on but is dead - makes no sound.
It is properly connected and plugged in.
I would test each line individually at the valve and at the point where it goes into the icemaker to verify flow
Is there a way to determine if the ice maker needs replacing? How can I determine if the ice maker is sending a signal for the valve to open?
Can you manually put the icemaker into requesting water then check for 120v ac at the valve
I never heard of manually setting the ice maker to request water. How is that done?
My icemaker only has an on/off button. Nothing more.
You can try turning it off then back on to reset it. If there is no ice in the tray it should advance to the fill step pretty quickly
I located the test button. Thank you. I pressed it and the tray went through its paces but still no water. Do you think there is an issue with the valve?
Did you hear it buzz like it was trying to send water? Check for 120v ac at the valve when you trigger the test cycle.
I don’t hear any buzz when doing the test cycle with the test button. I put water in the tray manually and the water freezes and ejects the cubes but still no water from the fill tube. Is there any way to open the valve manually to fill the tray?
Yes disconnect the line from the valve to the icemaker then press the test button to see if water comes thru the valve when the ice maker calls for it in fill cycle
Thank you for your assistance. I disconnected the water line from the valve and the valve opened when called. There was an ice blockage that couldn’t be seen from the inside of the refrigerator. I had to remove the ice maker fill tube from the rear of the refrigerator and thaw it out and reinstall. I now have a working ice maker.
