Kenmore DW dead; I've replaced just about everything!

Now here’s one that may stump you… though I hope not!

Our Kenmore DW, model 665.1702240, died completely about 8 months ago – no lights or response at all. Reading various forums for advice (including this one), I did the following, in this order:

Checked circuit breaker / power to DW;
Replaced front panel;
Replaced control board;
Replace thermal fuse (even though it tested fine);
Replaced switches, and checked their physical operation

By that point, into it almost $300 (and getting sick of hand-washing my dishes) I finally opened the electrical box under the DW, and discovered that the ground wire was not attached. Eureka! I thought… but, after attaching it… nothing. Still completely dead. No lights, no sound, no motion, nada.

What’s left? Is this being caused by sun spots??

Hi.

You need to verify if there is 120VAC to the box under the DW.
Also check if the power cord is properly connected to the DW wires.

Yes, indeed, I made sure early on that there was 120VAC to the box under the DW.

Regarding the “power cord” I’m not sure what you mean. But I’m sure there is 120v AC arriving up at the switches behind the front panel. If I hold my voltage detector (a little pen-like device that beeps when touched to electrical cables carrying a load) near the switch wires, it screams loud and clear.

Other ideas?

Hi.

You need to use a multimeter to check if there is electrical circuit, not just the tester.
Using the multimeter with door switches bypassed check for 120VAC at the control board contacts P2-6 to P7 and P8 to P7.
Voltage present - bad control board (yes it’s possible).
No voltage - check the hot and neutral wires for brakes inside the door.
