The model number you posted have 8 digits missing after 665. Verify and repost it.

I don’t see any 6 digit numbers after the model #. As I looked more closely at the sticker in the door jamb, I think the Model # reads 665. and is followed slightly below and to the right by 1686499J, which I’d originally listed as a part of the serial number, which appeared to be two sets of numbers/characters stacked one above the other. If I’m not looking in the correct place, and the six digit number you referred to is listed elsewhere on the appliance, please let me know and I’ll be happy to look.

Standard Kenmore (Sears) model numbers consist of a prefix (the first three numbers) in which the manufacturer name is encoded and model number itself (7 or 8 numbers after prefix). In your case the prefix is 665 which means your dishwasher was made by Whirlpool. Numbers 1686499J to the right are probably the rest of the model number, but they do not come up. Is it an American model?

The sticker is knarled so taking a closer look revealed that the model number is 665.1696499J (note the 169 sequence rather than the 168 sequence you were searching for).

By the way, thank you for your persistence. The dishwasher is becoming a tremendous hassle and being out of work, I much rather repair than replace if at all possible.

Remove the toe panel. Disconnect the drain hose (be prepared to lose some water on the floor) from the dishwasher. Unscrew the check valve (#15 on the diagram) and make sure it is clean inside.

OK, now the dishwasher is refusing to drain at all and there is quite alot of food being left on the dishes on both the top shelf and the bottom shelf. I removed and inspected the check valve (#15 on the diagram) and it was completely clean and functional. In fact I can blow through it and the valve will open.

By the way, this is not an issue with the drain hose. I’ve removed and inspected it and there are no blockages. It is routed correctly and per my comments from my orignal post, the unit will drain by pushing the cancel/drain button every time.

What items would you like me to check next???

Remove the pump cover (#14) and the filter (#9) on the diagram from the pump and inspect all impellers, the seal (#13) and the balls (#5 & #7).
