Brand:Maytag
Model Number:A8240
Main Symptom: burnt belt smell & squealing until you reach into water and lightly rotate the agitator. It seems to stop and then lightly starts back up again after a while. I’m not sure if the pulleys are supposed to rotate freely or have a lot of tension on them? I’m disabled and don’t want to get into changing pulleys if not needed.
What happens & when:it only does it while it’s in wash cycle not in spin or pump. Those seem to both be working fine.

The pulleys would rotate freely. The most common cause for this type of issue would be that the glides and springs that would be faulty and need to be replaced.
