What was the original reason for replacing the control board and how is the fridge section doing? Do you hear the freezer compartment fan running?
Are you part of the pro guys working for parts pro? Initially fridge quit working but freezer worked good. Change board because got bad advise from Sears repair that it was damper issue. Then was told fan was blowing backwards so changed blower motor which wasn’t blowing backwards after changing back of fridge w/dampers . So changed board which allowed damper to work right but then now temp won’t stay low enough to make ice, then drops low enough to make ice then back up and down. Before changing circuit board the freezer worked fine and pumped out ice just fine. Now the temp goes up and leaves a puddle on the floor from icemaker in the door then drops back down and makes ice. Never had temp issues till I changed board.
Yes, I am one of the technical specialists here.
Just trying to clear some stuff up to make sure I’ve got the clearest picture.
So the fridge originally wasn’t cooling well, but the freezer was. Now the fridge is cooling well but the temps in the freezer keep fluctuating widely, correct?
The fridge section air tower/damper has been replaced and the control board. Do you happen to have the part # of the control board that was installed?
What temperatures are the fridge and freezer set to?
Initially the fridge wasn’t cooling at all but the freezer put out ice continuously in the fridge door icemaker. Changed air tower/damper which did nothing. Changed circuit board purchased from Appliance parts pros EBR87463701. Instant fix for fridge but ice maker then worked very slowly to not at all. I caught on that the temps in the fridge were fluctuating from 33 degrees to 42 and the freezer from 0 degrees to 34. Settings on the door are set at -7 freezer and 33 refrigerator. Also noticed yesterday the weather strip on the freezer drawer seemed warm to hot like the defroster may be kicking on and off. Had no freezer problems till after changing circuit board. Still have old circuit board.
I was told by one of your sales people to get your help I needed to start an account. Tried to but the verification code never showed up till four of them did the next day thru four different emails but those verifications were expired by the time they came in. Now I can’t get in with no verification and it won’t except my user name or password. Was hoping this communication would travel via email because I’m on the road a lot and the phone doesn’t work well with this forum.
One thing that isn’t helping is the temp settings. Having both sections set to the lowest point means the fridge is going to struggle to satisfy either of them, so first I’d try setting the freezer to 0 and the fridge to 37. This may also resolve your ice production issues as most refrigerators of this type with this kind of ice maker need both sections to be satisfied for a certain period of time before they will even try making ice since the icemaker is a secondary system.
After that you may need to contact LG about service as they had a service bulletin about this model series and a software update. It talks about needing to replace the compressor if the temperatures aren’t staying in range with the software update. Since you’ve just replaced the control board, it is possible the new control board has the new software update values and doesn’t work with the original compressor.
All that being said about the software update, I would try the temperature setting changes first.
