The Frigidaire Gallery FG4H2272UF is a 4-door French door refrigerator. The disassembly process depends on what you’re trying to access. Below are the most common procedures.

Safety

  • Unplug the refrigerator.
  • Shut off the water supply if you’ll be disconnecting water lines.
  • Empty the area you’ll be working on.

Remove the Refrigerator Doors

Tools Needed

  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 8 mm socket
  • Marker or pencil
  1. Open both refrigerator doors to 90°.
  2. Remove the five screws securing the top hinge cover.
  3. Disconnect the electrical harnesses.
  4. Disconnect the water tube from the left door by pressing the fitting collar inward while pulling the tube out.
  5. Mark the hinge locations for easier alignment during reassembly.
  6. Remove the three 8 mm bolts from each top hinge.
  7. Lift each door straight up off the lower hinge.
  8. If needed, remove the lower hinges after extending the freezer drawer for access.

Remove the Custom-Flex Middle Drawer

  1. Fully open the drawer.
  2. Remove the basket.
  3. Release the four cable ties holding the wiring harness.
  4. Remove the retaining screw and harness clip.
  5. Disconnect the drawer harness.
  6. Press the release tabs on both drawer slides.
  7. Pull the drawer and slide assembly straight out.

Remove the Freezer Drawer

  1. Fully extend the freezer drawer.
  2. Remove the upper basket.
  3. Press the release tabs on both drawer slides.
  4. Lift the drawer and slide assembly out of the cabinet.

Remove the Ice Maker

  1. Remove the front ice maker cover.
  2. Remove the mounting screws.
  3. Remove the wire retainer.
  4. Disconnect the wiring harness.
  5. Pull the ice maker forward, then lower it slightly to remove it from the mounting rails.

Remove the Rear Machine Compartment Cover

  1. Pull the refrigerator away from the wall.
  2. Remove the 1/4-inch hex screws securing the rear cover.
  3. Remove the cover to access:
    • Compressor
    • Condenser fan motor
    • Main control board
    • Water inlet valves

Remove the Interior Rear Freezer Evaporator Cover

  1. Remove the freezer drawer and baskets.
  2. Remove the screws securing the evaporator cover.
  3. Carefully pull the cover forward and disconnect the evaporator fan connector if necessary.
  4. You’ll have access to:
    • Evaporator fan
    • Defrost heater
    • Defrost thermistor
    • Evaporator coil
