I think I killed it

[SIZE=2][FONT=Times New Roman]I was running my dryer catching up on laundry when it stopped drying as normal. It took 2-3 cycles to fully dry a load. I tried a lighter load (a little less than half a load) and it dried okay, but not what I would have expected. Then I went to put another (small) load in and hit the start button and nothing. There was a faint odor coming from it (I think electrical/ozone). I have read a couple posts here and have tried to look at the motor but cannot see how to take the back panal off.

Tips and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

edit: I checked the circuit breakers which are fine

If you get nothing at all, the thermal fuse probably opened. this most often happens because of an overheat situation. The most common cause of this is a clogged or restricted ventilation. Long drying time is another symptom. Make sure the lint filter screen is clear. Also make sure the vent is clear, from the dryer, all the way to the outside of the house. Then, check tha thermostats and the thermal fuse for continuity. Replace the component(s) that are open.
