I have a 20 year old G.E. dryer that has had light use and it is starting to sqweak .I think it maybe the bearing on the drum or maybe the belt .There is no burning smell and the sqweak comes and goes .Can someone help me?.
Hey Pizza - I had a similar problem with an old Amana dryer and indeed it was bearings in need of lubrication. We had it serviced but it didn’t take two weeks for the squeaking to return. I was able to easily remove the front cover (two screws) and using a flashlight put some drops of oil on the wheels. I’ve had to do this about every two weeks but this has kept me from from having to buy a new dryer for the last two years! Of course the belt just broke so it looks like my number’s up! Hope this helps, good luck.
Most use non-detergent oil!! Also if the bearings continue to squeak, you should replace the rollers
I also have a squeaky dryer. It squeaks when it is running any advice? Barrings, belts…it is an RCA 2000 dryer just started doing this about 1 month ago. Welcoming any advice and or suggestions!!! Thank you!!!
For Elasho:
You have a GE built dryer. You probably have a bad bearing at the back of dryer housing where the drum spindle goes in. If the noise is more like a screech
you have bad slides in the front panel.
