I have a JGS750SEFSS GE Profile gas oven, I ordered and installed WB23X5340 temperature Sensor & WB27X25331 control panel. I'm still get a F20 error code, can you advise

Since you have already replaced both the oven temperature sensor (thermostat) and the electronic control board, an F20 error means it’s time to focus on the wiring and verify the new parts are actually communicating correctly.

On this GE model, F20 indicates the control is seeing an oven temperature that is too high or an invalid temperature sensor signal.

Start with Diagnostics

  1. Clear the stored fault codes

    • Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes.

    • Restore power.

    • See if the F20 returns immediately or only after starting Bake.

  2. Enter Service Diagnostics

    • Make sure the oven is in Standby (clock displayed).

    • Press and hold Bake and Broil together for about 3-5 seconds until the service mode appears.

    • Use the temperature or selector keys to scroll through the diagnostic menu.

    • Check:

      • Stored fault codes

      • Oven temperature sensor reading

      • Cooling fan operation (if equipped)

      • Relay outputs

Test the Oven Sensor Circuit

Even with a new sensor installed, the wiring can still cause an F20.

  1. Disconnect power.

  2. Remove the rear panel.

  3. Unplug the sensor connector.

  4. Measure resistance across the sensor.

At room temperature (70°F), the sensor should measure approximately 1080 ohms. A reading within about 1050-1100 ohms is considered normal.

Next, check each sensor wire from the sensor connector to the control board for:

  • Continuity (close to 0 ohms)

  • No shorts to chassis ground

  • No damaged, pinched, or overheated wiring

A poor connection at either connector can cause the control to interpret an invalid temperature signal.

Verify the New Control Board

If the sensor and wiring test good:

  • Verify every connector is fully seated.

  • Compare each connector location to the wiring diagram to ensure nothing was shifted one position during installation.

  • Inspect for bent or backed-out terminals in the connectors.

Check Cooling Fan Operation

Although less common on this model, if the cooling fan is not operating when the oven heats, temperatures around the control can become excessive and contribute to temperature-related faults. Start a Bake cycle and verify the cooling fan starts once the oven begins heating.

If Everything Tests Good

If:

  • the new sensor measures about 1080 Ω,

  • the wiring harness has good continuity,

  • there are no shorts to ground,

  • all connectors are properly installed,

then the remaining possibilities are:

  1. A damaged wiring harness (most likely).

  2. A defective replacement control board (not uncommon).

  3. A poor connection at one of the control board connectors.

If you can tell me when the F20 appears (immediately after power-up, during preheat, or after the oven has been heating for several minutes), I can narrow down which of those is most likely.
