Hello,
I have an Estate (“A Whirlpool Company” - as written on the front).
It’s run fine for the last few years until a couple of days ago.
Randomly, it would buzz in a manner similar to the ‘load finished’ alarm, only lower in volume - and we weren’t even using it at the time.
Then, I went to use it. It just hums when I set the timer and hit start.
I pulled it away from the wall and unplugged it.
First thing I noticed was the 220v plug at the wall was green/burnt/corroded.
The wall plug is perfectly fine.
I installed a new plug kit from Lowe’s.
Same thing.
I checked all the wiring - nothing burned up.
If I unplug the white thing that I’ve read about but, can’t seem to remember the name of at the moment and it doesn’t buzz - so I’m assuming it works.
If I lift the lid I can rotate the drum by hand but, if I stop the drum quickly the belt continues to spin for a split second - so the motor isn’t seized.
I’m assuming a short in the motor but, I really, really, really don’t want to have to dig into it because I’m not really sure how to get to it, easily - and I’m lazy.
Mostly, I’m lazy. ![]()
If I take off the lint/exhaust housing, will the motor be easily accessible if that’s what it is?
Thanks in Advance!
