I plan to order a replacement “button cover” insert (part #: AP304468) to replace the worn out one on Whirlpool dishwasher (Model DU927QWDQO or DU927QWDGO. Can’t tell if next to last letter is Q or G). One forum comment suggests you have to take panels off of door while another suggested heating with hair dryer to remove old one and peel and stick new one. WHICH METHOD IS CORRECT? Anyone have a link to “how to” in the appropriate service manual or can someone just describe the steps? Thanks in advance for help.
If you click on the picture of the part you will get a new page with a view of the back of the insert. You will see the tape around the circumference so it looks like it is a peel and stick.

It depends on the unit.
From the look of yours you should not have to remove the panel from the door.
The hair dryer is just to loosen up the old glue so that the old one peels off fairly easily and does not leave a lot of glue on the machine’s panel.
Old panel that was cracked and worn pulled right off with a little hair dryer heat to soften glue. New panel is peel and stick. Dishwasher looks like a new one. Thanks AppliancePartsPro!
