Hotpoint Dishwasher HDA750S-45BA Drain Solenoid

My Hotpoint HDA750S-45BA does not advance from one cycle to the next - was stuck in same cycle and had to advance manually by turning knob. Water on bottom of liner around sump entrance screen. Took dishwasher out from under counter - drain solenoid blown out on side - hole in casing with coil exposed. I can replace the solenoid, but don’t want to spend more than that on this old appliance. Is replacing the solenoid a high percentage fix for this problem, or could there be another root cause that will blow the new solenoid? Someone told me to to look for bad plunger/piston/check valve parts - couldn’t find any of these parts. Thanks for your advice - will buy new solenoid if it looks like a good chance it will solve the problem.

If you found the solenoid has failed, then it needs to be replaced, but you mentioned the dishwasher doesn’t advance which makes me think the solenoid failure may have also caused the timer to fail. If it won’t advance by itself, then the timer needs to be replaced along with the solenoid. The failed solenoid would be the reason for it not draining, but if the unit won’t continue to the next wash cycle, then it’s looking like a timer as well.

Thanks for the quick reply - I’ll price the timer as well and make a decision to either fix or replace the unit. Much appreciated.

Glad I could help.
