Hi, a few weeks ago, the door on my dispenser broke. I looked up the part number and ordered a replacement dispenser. Removal of the old dispenser and the installation of the new one was easy enough, and I didn’t think much of it. A week or two later, I noticed that the dishwasher was now leaking water on to the floor. I took the door cover off (expecting to see a leaking seal) and instead, water was coming out of a large hole on the side of the dispenser. (I have attached pictures for your reference). I am fairly sure that the hole was there when I got the unit, because I remember using it to help me pull the dispenser into place.
This hole leads into a space in the dispenser directly behind the “vent” holes that appear on the inside face (behind the door when it is open). As the dishwasher ran, water would go into the vent holes and out the hole in the side of the unit, eventually collecting on the floor.
So, my questions are… 1) What is this hole and shouldn’t it have a cover?
and 2) What do I do about it?
I will gladly buy another dispenser, but I don’t want to spend $50 to find out that the replacement has a hole too. And I don’t want to pay a repair man $90 to show up and give me an answer in 30 seconds.
Thanks in advance for your help.
