Help Identifying Where This Small Gray Wire Goes – Kenmore 110.16852502

Hi all,

I’m working on a Kenmore 80 Series washer (Model 110.16852502) and replaced the motor coupler. During the repair, a small gray wire with a black single-pin connector came loose. It’s still attached to the wiring harness, but I can’t figure out where it originally plugged in.

I had to put this question this section, as I tried to enter it in the “Dishawasher repair” section but kept getting errors related to the “tags” functionality.

Here’s what I know:

  • It’s a single lead wire, gray in color, with a small black female spade terminal at the end.
  • The other end is still zip-tied into the wiring harness near the motor.
  • It came loose while repositioning the motor during the coupler replacement.
  • It does not belong to the main motor connector (that’s still intact), and the nearby white plug on the motor is already occupied.
  • I’m wondering if this might be a chassis or motor shield ground wire or if it connects to something near the capacitor.

I’ve attached several pictures showing the wire, the motor, and the wiring harness area for reference.

Any help identifying where this plugs in would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

From what I can see on available technical information, the gray wire should run from the motor neutral up to the lid switch.

Hi all,

Can you show a really clear picture of the connector in the end of that wire.

TKS!
