Looking for help in diagnosing problem…
No water entering dishwasher and it is making an awful groaning sound.
Does this appliance have a solenoid vavle that is supposed to open to let the water in? How can I check?

Yes,
Your dishwasher has a water inlet valve, It is located on the left side of the bottom frame, behind the lower kickplate and access panel.
It has a internal screen to filter out debris in the water lines.
Are you sure the water supply is turned on ?
Quite often you can clean the face of the screen,(with a tooth brush and or running water) and resume operation without the need of a part.
I normally reccomend you replace the inlet valve and “flush” the supply line of any debris.
It is a relatively inexpensive part, and just as much work to clean and flush the valve as it is to replace.
But that’s up to you.

Yes I am sure the water is turned on…has been working fine until all of a sudden.
Do I need to take the door off to access the kickplate and access panel?

No,
You don’t need to remove the door to access the water valve.
You do need to remove the kickpanel, the panel closest to the floor and the lower access pane., behind the kickplate panel (2 screws).
And you’ll have access to everything you need to.
It’s a tight fit under there, but nothing you can’t handle.
