Symptoms are condensation buildup in both top fresh food refrig and bottom freezer with intermittent poor cooling only up top at the FF part. Freezer is very cold, but is collecting ice like a penguin on that blue crank from Breaking Bad.

Turning off the unit for a few hours would generally restore some top side cooling function.

I got a defrost thermostat WR50X10069, but was shocked and bummed sumptin’ awful upon pulling the evaporator cover at the rear of the freezer compartment to discover the GE diagram was wrong and no such part was in there. Instead it’s just the white cylindrical temp sensor/thermistor WR55X10025.

And, I was expecting to find the evap coil encased in ice when I pulled the panel, but that was not the case, so my assumption that defrost cycles were not running may not be valid.

There is another WR55X10025 at the top of the FF compartment by the light, which must be removed to replace it.

After I disassembled the freezer compartment to find the no-defrost thermostat and no-iceberg situations and got it all back together, the fridge again started cooling normally and continues to do so after two days. It had been barely cooling for days before that. As written, being out of service for a few hours seems to, uh, resurrect it. I had assumed that was due to ice blockage downstairs melting and clearing the path for cold air to head upstairs, but I don’t think that’s the case.

There is, however, some ice around the edges of the cold air outlet at the top center of the fridge section even though it’s set to 38 degrees.

Condenser and evap fans are both good.

I have 2 new temp sensors on the way since they’re cheap and easy to replace, but any idea what the most likely cause of this baffling adventure is? Top FF temp sensor, bottom FZ temp sensor, defrost heater element, damper, or control board???

And, if anyone has access to the tech sheet/wiring diagram for this fridge and/or a diagram of WR55X42506 control board, that would be way cool.

Many thanks.

I have attached a copy of the tech sheet if you need more detailed data after reviewing that let me know, I can send select parts of th actual tech manual. One thing I would suspect is the air damper assembly ( GE WR60X27396 Refrigerator Air Damper Assembly | Genuine OEM Part )
