Brand: GE Profile Model Number: PDP715SYV1FS Main Symptom: Water level error shows up on app and dishwasher will not run + dishwasher consistently has water laying in bottom and does not get dishes clean What happens & when: After loading dishwasher and starting it in normal mode, it sounds like it is trying to pump out water but before it pulls in new water, the smart assist light goes red and the it sounds an alarm. This just started happening the past day or so. Prior to that though, my wife has been complaining about water laying in the bottom, the filter always being dirty, and the glasses and dishes never being clean. This is despite the fact that we pre-rinse them before putting them into the dishwasher.
Error Code (if any): Water level error
Parts or tests already tried: run smart app and that is the error it is providing

Start by pulling out your dishwasher and inspecting the wash pump. If you see black dust or black residue on the floor underneath, there’s a good chance the wash pump is bad. Try grabbing the pump and giving it a shake to see if any black residue falls out.
If you don’t see any residue, keep in mind that water sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher is often caused by the wash pump not pushing water to the spray arms. Another way to check is to place the lower spray arm in a specific position, start a cycle, and then see if the spray arm has moved from where you placed it.
For the water level sensor, check the float switch by moving it up and down. You should hear a click as it moves. Lastly, inspect the pressure sensor. These can build up debris over time, which can prevent the dishwasher from filling properly or completing cycles.
