I am also suspicious of heater around evaporator too, but chatgpt mentioned few jumper (J9 - J7-1) and that showed around 30 ohm resistance.
How do I test if I need a new drain pan with heater? I saw some jumpers mentioned on the drain pan part discussion, but that the mother board seems to be for a different ge appliance. How can I test them before ordering? I want to test from the moterboard/control board jumpers so I don’t have to dismantle. Things are still working.
You should unplug the defrost heater and check ohms through the defrost heater. Shoukld be the red and pink wires. The defrost heater for your ZISP480DXBSS refrigerator should typically show an ohm reading between 30 and 120 ohms, depending on your specific appliance’s wattage and configuration. To test the pan heater you need to locate and unplug the orange and black wires and test thru the pan heater wiring for resistance (OHMs). The reason for asking is that the unit is partially working and I have food in there. If I remove the components, I may not get them immediately / for few days. I am trying to figure out what is wrong, order it , then open things up more.
Yes just look for the connectors at the control board with the wire colors I mentioned for the components. Disconnect the connectors and back probe the wires for OHM’s

I have attached a copy of the tech sheet for reference. The black wire goes to the control board it should be grouped with a brown and red wire. The orange wire goes to the inverter board

Defrost heater was J9(red ) - J7 (Orange -9) : measured 26.5 Ohm (38 Ohm rated). Although there was a pink (internal to Evap Thermo), it connected to the common Orange.
Pan Heater was J12 (black) - J7 (Orange - 9) : measured 227 Ohms (330 Ohm rated)
What does the reduced resistance mean? Are they still functional? Should I think of replacement? Or this is more of a evaporator to drain pan pipe blockage? There is still some condensation/ice around the fan that shows up and disappears. This slows the fan down. Fridge is circa 2010 manufactured.

I tried to enter the diagnostic mode pressing 4 +/- temperature buttons to enter test mode 14. I was able to enter that mode once, but since then, if I try to press any button, it just beeps 3 times and doesn’t let me enter the mode.
Is there a reset part?
If no, is the defrost/heater pan enabled on a time basis? Say, if the compressor stops running and this is my cue to test the VAC on defrost and pan heater.
For the GE Monogram ZISP480DXBSS, you can access the built-in diagnostics from the temperature control panel inside the fresh food compartment.
Enter Diagnostic Mode
Wake up the display by pressing any temperature button if the display is asleep.
Press and hold all four temperature buttons simultaneously:
Freezer Warmer (+)
Freezer Colder (-)
Fresh Food Warmer (+)
Fresh Food Colder (-)
Hold all four buttons for about 3 seconds.
The display should change to flashing zeros (00), indicating you have entered Service Diagnostics.
Navigating the Tests

Use the Freezer temperature buttons to change the test number within that group.
Press any Door Alarm or Enter/Set key (depending on control version) to start the selected test. On some versions, simply waiting a few seconds starts the test automatically.

Reset / Exit Diagnostic Mode
To exit diagnostics:
Navigate to Test 1-5 (Reset/Exit) and run it, or
Disconnect power to the refrigerator for about 30 seconds, then restore power. The control will reboot into normal operation.
Resetting the Refrigerator
There is no factory reset that clears learned values or programming on this model. A power reset simply reboots the control board:
Unplug the refrigerator or switch the breaker off.
Leave power off for 30–60 seconds.
Restore power and allow several minutes for the control to initialize.

The compressor run is controlled by the internal temp of the fridge and freezer not by the defrost cycle.
According to the mini manual the defrost runs for 35 minutes every 60 hours
Removing the power and coming back is still making any button press beep 3 times. I even held the 4 buttons through the beeps but the all zeros part is not coming up. Any other ideas?
I also measured the evap thermistor (power off and disconnected, removed jumper j1 and measured 4-5), reading was 2.8 K Ohms, freezer temp at that time was 18. I put a flexible camera from the the small holes closer to front freezer door. Evaporator coil is iced up.
ok. Do you think I also need to worry about the evap thermistor? It is reading 2.8K ohms. At that level, the defrost cycle may never be called, as the board thinks evap area is still very hot but it in reality it is freezing.

I will look at the boards too. That makes sense, but I also think the thermistor needs replacement.
Safety First: Unplug the refrigerator before beginning this repair.
1. Access the Freezer Evaporator
Remove all food, shelves, baskets, and the ice bin from the freezer.
Remove the screws securing the rear evaporator cover.
Pull the cover forward carefully. If it’s frozen in place, use a hair dryer on a low setting to melt the ice around the edges—don’t force it.
2. Locate the WR50X10092 Thermostat
The WR50X10092 is clipped directly to the evaporator tubing near the top of the evaporator coil. It has two wires leading into the freezer wiring harness. It is identified as Thermostat Light (Diagram Item 894) for this model.
3. Remove the Old Thermostat
Disconnect the thermostat connector from the wiring harness.
Release the retaining clip from the evaporator tubing.
Remove the thermostat.
4. Install the New Thermostat
Clip the new thermostat onto the same section of tubing in the same orientation as the original.
Route the wiring exactly as it was from the factory, keeping it away from the evaporator fan and heater.
Reconnect the wiring harness securely.
5. Reassemble
Reinstall the evaporator cover.
Reinstall the shelves, baskets, and ice bin.
Restore power to the refrigerator.
Testing
Allow 12–24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.
If you were replacing the thermostat because of a defrost problem, verify that the evaporator no longer becomes completely packed with frost over the next several days.
While You’re There
If the evaporator was completely frosted over, it’s a good idea to test:
Defrost heater for continuity.
Evaporator thermistor (WR55X10025) for proper resistance at known temperatures.
Wiring between the thermostat, heater, and main control board.
A failed thermostat is only one possible cause of a defrost failure, so checking the heater and thermistor at the same time can prevent having to reopen the freezer.
found that my multimeter had issues and was reporting the resistance incorrectly; all heaters/defrost pan and thermistor were ok, so didn’t replace the thermistor or open the freezer side to access the evaporator
went ahead and replaced the control board
Freezer came down to -1 and hovering around -1 to 4. (2 called for or set)
Current issue
freezer side came down to -4 or hovering around 1, however fridge gets to 42-48 but not to 37
removed the last drawer /custom chill , and taped the door switches on top to be closed, not seeing damper open or fan running (fridge was 48 at that time), is this damper only for the bottom drawer part? Is there another damper to check? If so , how. I have an infrared temp sensor gun that I can point and test.

It looks like WR02X12861 contains a foam casing and also the damper WR49X10107 inside it. So either the existing foam part needs to be cut open for the replacement damper or the entire assembly needs to be replaced?
Is my understanding correct? Which one is the preferred route for repair? Does cutting the foam part make it easier to replace? If I need to replace the foam assembly, does it need removal of the air tower for access?
The WR02X12861 Foam Damper Assembly is located in the fresh food (refrigerator) compartment air tower, behind the upper control housing. It works with the damper control assembly (WR49X10107) to regulate airflow from the freezer into the fresh food section.

Unplug the refrigerator or switch off the circuit breaker before servicing.
Removal
Open the fresh food door.
Remove the top shelf if it blocks access.
Remove the light shield and any screws securing the control housing.
Lower the control housing enough to disconnect the wiring harnesses.
Remove the air tower cover from the top rear of the refrigerator compartment.
Locate the foam damper assembly (WR02X12861).
Disconnect the linkage from the damper control assembly if equipped.
Release the retaining tabs or remove the mounting screws.
Pull the foam damper assembly straight out of the air duct.
Installation
Slide the new WR02X12861 foam damper assembly into the air duct in the same orientation as the original.
Reattach the linkage to the damper control assembly.
Secure the assembly with its tabs or screws.
Reinstall the air tower cover.
Reconnect all wiring harnesses.
Reinstall the control housing and light shield.
Reinstall any shelves that were removed.
Restore power.
Test
Set the refrigerator to the factory-recommended temperature (37°F refrigerator, 0°F freezer).
Open and close the refrigerator door several times and listen for the damper opening and closing.
After several hours, verify the fresh food temperature is stable and that airflow from the upper vent changes as the temperature setting is adjusted.
If you’re replacing WR02X12861 because the refrigerator is too warm, too cold, or has no airflow into the fresh food section, it’s a good idea to inspect the damper control assembly (WR49X10107) at the same time. A failed motor or broken linkage can prevent the new foam damper from operating correctly.
