For the GE Profile PEM31SF4SS, the cooling fan motor is located behind the outer cabinet near the control panel area. Access requires removing the microwave from its installation and taking off the metal cover. The OEM cooling fan motor is WB26X21315.

Access Procedure

:warning: Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged. Use caution.

  1. Unplug the microwave.

  2. If built in or under-cabinet mounted, remove the trim kit and mounting hardware, then slide the microwave out.

  3. Remove the screws securing the outer cabinet cover (rear and side screws).

  4. Slide the cover back and lift it off.

  5. The cooling fan assembly is behind the control panel on the right side of the chassis.

  6. Disconnect the fan motor wires.

  7. Remove the screws holding the fan bracket/motor assembly.

  8. Transfer the fan blade to the new motor if required and reinstall.

Before Replacing the Motor

Check for:

  • Grease or debris preventing the fan from turning.

  • Loose wire connections.

  • Fan blade rubbing the housing.
