If the first error code registered by the control was error 3, there are some motor circuit tests that can be done to see what is causing the issue. Does the spin basket rotate by hand freely?
Hey William, thanks for the response. The order the codes were given was 27, 26, 3, 38, 34. The basket does spin freely. It’s filling some, but not normal, and same with the draining. It starts each process of the cycle, but then super condenses it, and then thinks it’s finished. Everything I’ve read says probably bad Inverter Board
The error 27 is an inverter fault due to overheating. I would recommend testing the motor winding resistance to make sure that the motor is not causing an issue. With the power cord unplugged, the back access panel would need to be removed. This will give you access to remove the motor from the tub. The wires connecting to the motor would need to be disconnected and the motor terminal box would be tested for resistance from the terminal with the thick red wire to the terminal with the white wire. Then from the thick red wire to the blue wire, and the white wire to the blue wire, would be tested. Do the windings each measure about 14.2 Ohms?
Right on William, thanks! I’ll test it and see what I get
Motor tested out fine. It was the inverter board. Thanks for your site and help, its great!
I am glad we were able to help get this figured out.
William, do y’all take the old boards back for cores or recycling?
Unfortunately, we do not recycle control boards. In the case of the inverter, it does not appear that the manufacturer takes this one back as a core, so we would not be able to.
I am having this issue. My washer isn’t even 2 years old. I have Model number GFW850SPN5RS I am getting error code 3. (The drum does spin freely) When I ran test 14 the drum spins for about 5 seconds then stops spinning. I have taken apart the washer and there is no disconnected wires and I haven’t put it back together yet because I know I need a part to fix it but the control board looks fine no visible damage. I keep reading that I need to replace the control board to fix the issue. I wanted to ask what else it could be because I have read multiple different things that could be the problem so I’m just stuck at this point I don’t want to order multiple unnecessary expensive parts. I really appreciate any feedback.
