GE electric range J46601WH thermostat damaged by lower element arcing

Brand:GE
Model Number: J46601WH
Main Symptom: damage from arcing
What happens & when: The lower element in the right side of our dual oven GE J46601WH range cracked and starting arcing, and melted the end of the thermostat probe. I was able to find a replacement element (WB44x5099), but the thermostat has been out of production for several years. I looked at the schematic and saw that the thermostat and 2 elements are the only things in that oven circuit besides some lights and switches. I’m wondering if it is possible to replace the thermostat and both elements with a similar matched set, and if so, which ones?

Hi jimvc,

Unfortunately, part numbers WB21X5208 / WB21X5209 have been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer. At this time, there are no direct OEM replacements or guaranteed crossover parts available for them.

Thank you for your prompt response. You mentioned part # WB21X5208 - is that a replacement for WB21X5209?

You’re welcome! Yes, it was a replacement part, but unfortunately it’s also out of stock due to its age. Since it’s an older part,

That’s OK - I found a new/opened box unit from a small dealer in California. I appreciate all your help.
