GE Dryer wont start on it's own

I recently tried to get a GE dryer to work after several years of it sitting idle.
It would not start so I replaced the start switch. It will start now but only if you give it a spin with your hand while pushing the start button.
The motor turns freely with the belt off and will run for a long period of time without getting hot. It just wont re-start without spinning the drum.
Everything else seems to work fine.

Anybody got an idea for me to try?

Sounds like the motor start winding has gone bad. The dryer needs a new motor.

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE dryer Model DDE6500GAL
