GE dishwasher won't start; constant flashing light and beeping every minute

Brand:GE
Model Number:gdf610psj4ss
Main Symptom:won’t start wash cycle
What happens & when: The dishwasher quit working 3 weeks ago. Door latch quit working so I replaced it; now the door latches securely but following the wash cycle procedure oulined in the user manual but the start light flashed and machine beeps once every minute. I flipped the breaker and performed a factory reset, then closed the door and pressed “cycle select” & “start” for 5 seconds This resulted in all the lights blinking for a few seconds and 817 appeared in the display window.

I’m not sure if my next step is to replace the main control board, the door intelock switch (if this model has one), or ???

The LEDs blinking after entering the consumer error mode indicate the main control is sensing that the door is open. If the door is closed when this happens, it could be a damaged wire, failed machine control, or even a misaligned or faulty door latch. With the power supply to the dishwasher turned off at the breaker, the main control wire connection J711 would need to be accessed. It should be the wire connection with 11 wires, the other wire connections will have only 5 or fewer wires going to them. With the door closed, disconnect the wires from connection J711. With a multimeter set to continuity, test from the yellow and red wire at pin 3 to the violet and yellow wire at pin 4. Then from the gray and white wire at pin 5 to the yellow and red wire at pin 3. Does continuity show up for both test sets? If continuity does show up for both, the machine control has a failure. If continuity does not show up, access the door latch and remove the wires. With one meter probe set onto the latch port pin where the yellow and red wire set, test to the other two pins. If continuity shows up here but not at the machine control, the harness has a damaged wire. If continuity does not show up, but the door is closed and the strike is in good condition, the latch is faulty. Here is a picture of the circuit being tested, and links to each part.
