My GE Profile dishwasher model# PDW8980L OOSS does not drain. I have checked and cleaned evey hose and filter and have the proper 18" loop. Every cycle works except for draining. I can see the motor spinning and hear the water cleaning inside. When the pump cycle starts I can hear a slight hum by the pump. The motor is not spinning at that time. Should it be and how can I be sure which part is defective. Is the Actuator wax assembly involved with the draining cycle?

It was the drain pump.

DM,
Sounds like you have an inoperative, or jammed drain pump,
It is a separate component from the main wash/pump motor assembly.
and the wax actuator has no effect on the drain cycle,
Good Luck,
