GE CaFe refrigerator fan not turning on and staying on

Brand:GE
Model Number: CFCP1NIY
Main Symptom: fan turns on clicks and stops. Gurgles, then clicks every 20 to 30 seconds.
What happens & when: It sometimes starts after several trys. If it doesn’t stay on, it loses temperature. I replaced the starter relay switch. That did not fix it. Although it is less frequent. When I catch it in this mode. I shake the refrigerator and it starts. It will run for 24 hours or more (sometimes days) before it gets stuck in this cycle. The digital refrigerator/ freezer temps go blank

Error Code (if any): no code
Parts or tests already tried: starter relay switch. (It rattles when I shake it. It did new.

Hi TomMillerStudio,

Did you replace the overload (WR08X10025) or the capacitor (WR55X24064)? Both of these components work together with the start relay and can contribute to the clicking noise you’re hearing.

A failed overload, weak capacitor, or bad start relay can prevent the compressor from starting properly. When this happens, the compressor will click on and off as the overload repeatedly trips. If the compressor isn’t running, the condenser and evaporator fans may not operate normally either, which can make it appear that the fans have failed when the real issue is in the compressor start circuit.

Before condemning the compressor, I would test or replace the overload, capacitor, and start relay, and inspect the wiring for any signs of overheating or damage.
