Older Frigidaire Refrigerator FRS6R5ESBL (2007) Noticed ice maker wasn’t making ice and discovered that food was half frozen. My fault likely as I discovered the coils were ridiculously dirty, cat hair etc. In addition the freezer was quite full. Cleaned everything up, cleaned out excess food. Seems that the compressor isn’t coming on but fans work ok. Fridge side seems fine. Wild guess but wondering if this part is the culprit:
Refrigerator Defrost Thermostat Kit for Frigidaire FRS6R5ESBL Freezer section too warm
If the condenser fan (next to the compressor) is running the compressor should also be running…if not the issue would likely be a compressor start device or the compressor itself.
Thanks for the quick response. Unsure if the compressor is kicking on or not, little baffling. If the fridge side is essentially normal could that still be the case? Puzzling as some of the ice packs in the door are still frozen as well as some ice cubes in a bag. Meat and fries for instance are only half frozen, if that, more like if they were in the fridge. Ice make produces water at the door but not cold enough to make ice. So, sorry for the stupid addendums just want to try and replace whatever parts might be the culprit, appreciate any suggestions.
Based on this information you will need to confirm the evaporator is not impacted with frost (defrost issue) and that the compressor is coming on and running when the fan are. This could be a defrost issue or it could be the compressor is not running and everything has not completely warmed up yet.
Don’t think the compressor is kicking on. The tank is hot and the fan is blowing on the coils. Interior fan in the freezer is running. Noticed last night that the fans had stopped for a bit as if it sensed it was up to temperature, than kicked back on a little bit later. It’s always done that from what I recall.
