For a Frigidaire FFSS2614QS6A with no water to the ice maker, first verify that the ice maker is turned ON by making sure the arm is down, and that the freezer temperature is cold enough for ice production. This can be done by placing a thermometer between two bags of veggies for several hours, then checking to see what temperature is measured. The temperature needs to be less than 10 degrees for the ice maker to go into a harvest cycle on its own.

Next, inspect the ice maker module. Check that the module is cycling properly and not stalled. If the ejector fingers are stuck or the module will not advance through a harvest cycle, the ice maker assembly may be faulty and unable to call for water. If there is nothing that appears to be hanging the module up, reach behind the motor module and slowly rotate the ice maker rake clockwise until it is able to work on its own. This is usually when the rake reaches the 1 o’clock position. This is the manual harvest cycle for testing purposes.

If the ice maker module appears to be operating correctly, check for 120 VAC at the ice maker water valve during the fill portion of the cycle. This will be at the end of the harvest cycle and is usually only for 9 to 12 seconds depending on the design. If 120 VAC is present but no water enters the ice maker, and there was not a clogged or pinched tube, the water valve may be faulty. If no voltage is present, further diagnosis of the ice maker module and wiring will be necessary.

Diagnostic Steps:

  1. Verify the ice maker is turned ON.

  2. Confirm proper freezer temperature.

  3. Check the ice maker module for proper cycling/harvest operation.

  4. Measure for 120 VAC at the ice maker water valve during the fill cycle.

  5. If 120 VAC is present and no water enters, replace the water valve.

  6. If no voltage is present, troubleshoot the ice maker module and wiring.
