Frigidaire GRSS2352AF How to remove control panel on fridge for the purpose of pulling the water dispenser line?

Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: GRSS2352AF
Main Symptom: Intermittent dripping from in-door water dispenser
What happens & when: When the dispenser paddle is pressed for a glass of water, the dispenser will drip water after releasing the paddle

Error Code (if any):
Parts or tests already tried: This was an issue in the past and it was repaired under warranty. The repair man told me that the water line runs through the door and the freezer hinge and slowly gets worked out of position at the dispenser. He had to take the control panel, called a “Frigidaire 5304527031 User Interface” out and then pull the line down. The same issue is starting to happen again, but now I have no warranty. I need to know what is the best way and tool to remove the control panel from the door to access the water line. There are no screws holding it in. It is held by clips and tension. The space is very narrow around the panel. I tried an old credit card, but that didn’t work. What would you use and what have you had success with?

For Frigidaire GRSS2352AF, the dispenser control/UI is clip-retained, not normally held by visible front screws. The UI board is listed as 5304527031.

To remove it:

  1. Unplug refrigerator.
  2. Use a thin plastic putty knife/trim tool at the upper-left edge of the dispenser control panel.
  3. Carefully work the edge outward until the first retaining clip releases.
  4. Work across the top and down the sides, releasing the remaining clips. Don’t pry hard in one spot—the trim can crack.
  5. Once loose, pull the panel forward only a few inches.
  6. Disconnect the wiring harness(es) from the back of the control/UI board.
