Frigidaire Fridge model FRT18QRHW3

it’s entirely possible the area between the freezer and fridge is just filled with foam

How would the water get back there? So maybe it is coming down the backwall between the aluminum and styrofoam, from the freezer and exiting from the the 2 spout holes and drain hole (picture above)? Not much that can be done then?

There could be leakage from the pan or drain or even drips causing splashing that accumulates into a few drops which then drain down around the drain tube and out those holes

Thx, I’ll keep an eye on that area and see how things go, if it still leaks or not as I reassembled everything back yesterday.

No water in fridge for a few days now, since I last reassembled everything. But I noticed there is a frozen large drop from the freezer drain hole to the drain spout in the refrigerator, I am wondering if that is normal or it it will melt in the next melt cycle?

I would keep an eye on it because if it doesn’t melt it could grow big enough to restrict or block the melt water

Will do. There seems to be an ice formation in the drain hole. I had cleaned it real good. If that is the case, anything else that can be done?

The only thing I would think of if the issue persists would be ripping off the screen in the drain hole, that would clear the way for all of the water to go down to the pan without freezing, but don’t know if it could cause other collateral issues.

The only issue I could foresee without the screen is any debris would have a clear path into the drain tube

I’m thinking that perhaps the heating element melts that ice drop in the drain hole, and then the cycle restarts. I noticed the ice in the drain hole was gone when I got home (the ice that can be seen from the bottom in my previous picture), so it went down the spout and drain tube. The ice reappeared again a few hours later.

ok just keep an eye on it

Got home this afternoon and had water in my fridge. I had put paper towels to help identify where the water may be coming in from, and it appears it’s on the left side only (please see pic). So I’m thinking the drain hole may still be blocking or freezing up, and the water might be coming from the ceiling of the refrigerator or through the left styrofoam hole, or from behind the left styrofoam hole.

Yeah its leaking down between the 2 sections from the drain pan for some reason. I’m wondering if somehow a leak has developed in that short piece of drain. I would say caulk it but I don’t know where to tell you to do it

Is there condensation on that aluminum around the damper vent? If so you may be having a sealing issue that is allowing warm moist air into the fridge which is then condensing on that cold metal since it is at the highest point in the fridge. Then your fridge may have a little bit of a left tilt causing it to gather where you see that droplet in your mirror

Sorry having a issue to reply, my comment appears under your name …

OK well we may have a combination of both happening

I have a feeling the condensation build-up is only hapening in the defrost cycle, as the heating element is right behind that area in the backwall, as it returns to normal after the cycle. So I’m thinking it is still just a drain hole issue, somehow backing water from the freezer into the fridge.

Very strong possibility but other than tearing it all apart I don’t know how to tell you to diagnose or fix the issue

I’m thinking the water may be draining slowly in the freezer drain hole, and then coming into the fridge by the ceiling aluminum (possibly a hole back there), and coming to the refrigerator ceiling from the freezer until the curve, and then falling to the shelf (as per blue harrow and identified blue zone).

I agree but there again I have no Idea on how to fix it without tearing the whole unit apart. It may just be simpler, since you’ve identified the problem area, to just keep something under there to catch the drip
