Exactly as the description says. The fridge was getting somewhat cool, but the freezer was not going below 38 farenheit and the compressor was running non-stop. Pulled the access panel in the freezer to find what is seen in the picture (frozen line going into the coils. Could the temp sensor be sending a faulty signal to keep the evap defroster on all the time? Seems unlikely as I believe the compressor is supposed to stop when the defrost element is on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Based on the picture and the description, this is likely a sealed system issue and would require an EPA-Certified technician to complete the required repairs.

Copy that. But I’m that guy that wants to know precisely WHAT FAILED AND WHY. You obviously looked at the picture and made some sort of assessment on what likely failed based on that picture. Clogged capillary? What was your assessment/best guess? Also – that black piece of “seal-tape” does not look factory (but I could be wrong).

All looks to be factory…, To determine what the exact issue is, no guessing, there will need to be some sealed system diagnostics done. Again, by an EPA-Certified technician. This could be a restriction, it could be low of refrigerant (Leak), it could be a inefficient compressor, etc. This is not one to guess at, I would recommend contacting a Certified technician with the proper equipment, to get to the issue at hand.
