This could be caused by a missing magnet, a damaged pressure switch that houses the magnet, or even a damaged reed switch. If you grab a refrigerator magnet and open the freezer door, there should be a rectangle just below the left rail near the front. If you place the refrigerator magnet here, does the freezer light turn off?
There’s a rectangle on the main cabinet door on the left below the rail to the freezer drawer. I thought that was the problem, but couldn’t get a part number from parts department (which is usually incredibly helpful.) I put a magnet on that and the light didn’t turn off and the magnet didn’t hold. Here’s a picture I got without taking the drawer out, by squeezing my hand in behind the freezer drawer.
On the freezer drawer under the rail is a plastic thing that definitely held the magnet. Light did not go off. It that it? Second image.
Is it true that this same switch controls a fan? Is the fan now running non stop? What if I just pull out the light?
Also, with this frig, the ice maker place is leaking and ice is forming on the outside of the ice maker. I took pictures and hopefully will get some response from Samsung (I heard they lost a class action suit about it), but I can’t seem to stop it from staying frozen, even though I turned the ice maker off.
I just noticed something. When you open the flex door (that middle drawer between the freezer and refrigerator) after about 6 inches, the freezer light goes out. Is that significant? And of course when the drawer is closed, the light stays on.
To clarify, the light that won’t turn off is mounted under the door to the flex zone drawer, and shines into the freezer when freezer is open.
Help please. I wrote yesterday and haven’t heard. I ordered and replaced the reed switch but the light is still constantly on. I’m afraid that I will burn up the fan that someone said is also connected to this.
Please let me know what to do next, or what part to get next. I can’t find the magnet or the pressure switch in parts dept.
