Freezer Coil Keeps Icing Up - Fresh Food Side Too Warm

The freezer coil froze up about 3 months ago. Fridge side got too warm. I unplugged and thawed 2 days - plugged back in and it worked. Couple days ago the coil froze up again. Fridge too warm. I unplugged - thawed 24 hrs - plugged back in - let run to get cold and was checking Ohms - the heater had good readings. Was about to try looking for a way to ck the thermostat when the fan stopped and the heater went into defrost mode (got hot) and the coil thawed. I still don’t see WHERE to ck Ohms for the thermostat. Where do I do this? Is there a thermostat timer? If it has a timer - where is it (how do I find the terminals to check it?). Or is the circuit board the 3rd and last component for the defrost system on this model? After the coil thawed - a frost built up - not real bad - I pushed the unit into it’s “normal” space (surrounded by cabinets). 30 min later a much heavier frost was present. How often does this model go into defrost mode? Can I force a defrost? How? I can use an ohmmeter - just need to know where the parts are and where to find the terminals to test.

It should unplug, see Item 3 in Section 12

There is no timer, they use an adaptive defrost board.

It varies, see the tech sheet.

See the tech sheet.

It sounds like your unit has a intermittent problem as it did run a defrost cycle.
My guess would be that the defrost board is shot and is not programming defrost cycles when it should.

I would also check the defrost thermostat, if it is deformed/bulged replace it even if it measures 0 ohms when frozen.
