Hello everyone,
I am a landlord and I have an Amana stainless steel electric stove (Model # AER6303MFS3) where the outer door skin assembly is separating at the top corner (photos attached).
An attempt was made to use an adhesive to hold it together before the current tenant moved in, but that repair has now failed. There is a layer of old, dried adhesive residue trapped inside the gap where the surfaces are pulling apart.
I am picking up the door tomorrow to take it off-site so it can be fixed properly. Looking at the design of this specific model, I would love your insight:
-
Is a high-temp adhesive/silicone the proper, long-term solution to re-bond these factory components, or does this model use specific mechanical fasteners that might have snapped or stripped out?
-
If adhesive is the right way to go, what is the best method or solvent to clean out that old, failed glue layer without scratching the stainless steel or damaging the underlying trim?
-
If the consensus is that the previous glue attempt ruined the surfaces beyond repair, should I replace the side trim pieces, the top vent trim, or the outer glass assembly entirely?
I appreciate any recommendations or solutions based on what you see in the images. Thanks!
