Expensive water-filled paperwieght

I have a Kenmore washer that fills and drains. That is about the extent of what it is good for. Upon completion of filling, it makes a whirring sound like it thinks it is agitating, but it doesn’t. It also like to make a similiar “ratchety” noise when it thinks it is spinning, when it really isn’t. Any ideas as to what my problem could be? I had thought that maybe there was a broken belt, but it is either a direct-drive, or very well hidden.

The problem is a broken motor coupling. No doubt about it.

  • The part number for the motor coupling is AP3963893
