Dryer repair

My GE (electric) dryer makes a high pitched squeaking sound about 1 time per second. It sounds like it is coming from a place near the back of the dryer, and I believe I need to replace the rear drum bearings.

Am I on the right track? My other problem is that I am not sure how to access the rear drum. Do I need to remove the 3 hex nuts inside the drum, to release it from the bearings?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Pull the dryer from the wall. In the center of the rear panel you’ll find a rectangle metal cover holding by two 5/16" screws. Behind this cover is the rear drum bearing. Put a few drops of a machine oil inside the bearing and it should stop the noise.
Good luck.

I find that lubericating only buys a little time. Not long before replacing it anyway
