Dryer heats for short time

Dryer heats up for short time then goes cool. We replaced the heating element and coils. We checked the venting everything is good there also? Timer switch doesn’t move and continues to run, what am i overlooking? Repairman wants to charge $85.00 for the first 15 minutes, please help!!!:frowning:

The first thing I would do is check and see if this happens in all cycles, and if not tell us in which ones it does.

This may be a situation where you have to replace some parts on speculation, but see what you can tell us first about when this happens.

Your post is also a little confusing, are you saying the timer does not move but the dryer continue to turn, blowing cold air?

The only time the timer doesn’t move is on the towel or high heat setting. I do not get heat on the other cycles but for 2 to 3 minutes. Yes to the last question… the dryer continues to run and I get no heat.

Given that it starts to heat, I think this part is likely the problem. If it did not heat at all it would be easy to test continuity, but you will probably get false readings.

Do check with a meter to see that you have 120v at each side of the connection block and that your hi limit thermostat and thermal cut off have continuity.

So I checked the thermostat that is fine, I replaced the heating element and the coils. What else can I look at with this dryer? Like I said it heats for maybe a couple minutes, and all I get is cold air.
