Door broken - spring balance or door balance link

Suddenly the HEAVY door just drops when opened. Not sure which part needs to be replaced. The spring balance or the door balance link. How do I diagnose this, do I have to take apart the door?

Each door hinge at the bottom has a spring hooked to the hinge and a hook behind it to put tension on it. You’ll have to remove the screws holding the dishwasher to the counter top and then slide the dishwasher out enough to see the broken or loose spring. About a foot.
