Disherwasher fills lights go out and does not start

It sounds like you may have a bad circuit board.

Just a little more back ground. The water fills, heats up, it does not progress beyond that. Then lights go out. It did this about 2 months ago then started working fine until last night. Could the float switch be bad? What about the heat sensor? How can I check these and where are they located. I would like to be sure if I am going to spend 150 on a board.

The float switch just controls the power to the water inlet valve; It cuts the power to the valve in an overfill situation. The fact that water comes in and heats indicates that power is getting to the circuit board; this means also that the door switches are doing their job.

Check all the electrical connections, beginning at the main hook-up under the machine. Make sure there are no loose connections, especially with the neutral and the ground wires. A loose neutral or ground can present some pretty tricky symptoms sometimes.

Check the electrical connections at the circuit board. You might even try GENTLY cleaning the end of the ribbon connector from the touch pad, using a clean pencil eraser.

If you don’t get a good response from all this, I would replace the board.
