Dishwasher is leaking at bottom of R hand door; R hand SOUND seal on tub is missing. Could this be contributing/causing leak? Top and L hand SOUND seals are intact. Are they interchangeable?
If you’re referring to the trim pieces that are screwed to the cabinet, surrounding the dishwasher, they are handed. I believe you can buy replacements in a kit, that then have to be cut to length. As for your leak, look at the door seal. If it’s dirty, clean it with soapy warer, or a mild vinnegar solution. If it’s really crusted, you might consider replacing it.
Thanks! In researching parts for this particular model, part is listed as “sound seal”, is approx 23"L x 1/2"W, flexible, notched on back side, has lip that simply slips over edge of tub, with separate seal for left, right, and top of tub…is not screwed in place. Doesn’t appear that later models of Maytags have this “sound seal”. What do you think?
Here’s a parts breakdown. The sound seal (37 in the diagram) is an external sound barrier. It has no effect on the water tightness of the machine. The door seal (#1 in the drawing) is the important part. It fits in the groove tha goes around the tub and up against the door to keep water in.
