Looks like you were right on target. Once I disconnected the power I was able to get the dishwasher to run beyond the original failure point. Thirty minutes into the cycle the same problem continued. Your advice was related to the control board which seems more then I could handle. 
I had to call in a repair guy who said my circuit board was shot…$300 later. If my home warranty hadnt picked up the bill I might have gone out a purchased a new unit, considering mine was at least 8+ years old. Thanks for your reply and pointing me in the right direction!
