The dishwasher has power and water going to it. I’ve inspected the wiring everywhere. It all looks fine. I’ve replaced the water inlet valve, water fill valve, and the float switch.
The unit turns on and when it begins the cycle I hear it drain. Then nothing as the water is not actually coming in. Then a grinding noise as it seems like it’s trying to run the cycle with no water.
I don’t see the model number listed. Could you please provide it? That will help us diagnose the issue more accurately and point you in the right direction.
I ran the diagnostic cycle and error code 6 flashed which is water inlet of course. It still did not fill. I can tell that the heating element works because it feels warm inside but there’s still no water coming in. I’ve manually added water to the inside and it drains just fine. I’ve inspected the drain pump. There’s nothing stuck in the impeller. I’m not sure what to do next? I don’t have a multimeter.
Your drain pump is different from your wash (circulation) pump. The drain pump’s job is to remove the water from the dishwasher at the end of the cycle, while the wash pump circulates the water through the spray arms to clean your dishes.
Based on what you’ve described, it sounds like the wash pump may have failed.
