I bought a used dw that was working last summer. I just installed it, and turned it on for the first time. It started by doing the draining sounds, then nothing for the fill, except a burning smell. I hear a little hum, like it’s supposed to be filling. I get the same results when doing the test (by pressing power scrub/delicate econo) for my SHU9915UC/U12, the water doesn’t fill, and there is a burning smell. I let it run for several 20 sec. fill attempts, but was afraid I was burning out a motor. This is a 12 yr old model. which sat unused for months. It is epoxied to the granite countertop, so before I have someone out to remove it, can I identify what the problem is? water valve vs. water fill? If I got a multimeter, how do I do that testing? Where do I put the meter? If it’s the float valve stuck, I have to remove the dishwasher to get inside the left panel, which means breaking off the tabs epoxied to the granite. I’d rather check the water valve from the front before breaking anything off, but I need direction on how to do multimeter testing on it.
