Dishwasher has started to make a whining noise when pumping out.
I have disassembled (see attached). The macerator and screen are clear. I can reproduce the noise (at low level) by spinning the motor shaft clockwise (from inside the washer cabinet). Noise does not occur if I spin counter clockwise. Washer operates fine otherwise.
Any ideas?

Pull that last screw from the sump cover and get to the drain impeller (AP3044170) to see if you find anything that may be making the noise. Once past that, you are left with the motor itself as the possible cause of noise. Looks like you are on the right track. Great pic BTW.
Brian:
Thanks for the tip. Which screw do you mean?
Mike
Looking at your photo, the #15 or #20 star bit screw to the right of the motor shaft. If you don’t have an appropriate screwdriver or bit, find a flat blade that is small enough to find inside the head. It may be rather tight given the age so take it slow.
Brian:
Thanks again. I see two screw to the right of the motor shaft; one is dark and recessed and looks like is one of a set of four screws. The other is shiny and is proud of the surface.
I have the right bits - just need to know which screw!

Btw, this window is hard to type in. There is no cursor, and I can only change the last character I typed!
Just try the shiny screw which holds the sump cover in place.
Thanks, Brian. Don’t knopw what I did, but the whine is gone. Appreciate your help.
Mike
There may have been something in there that you cleaned out while getting into everything. Glad I could help.
