Dishwasher fills with water and I can see and hear the timer going through all the cycles and can hear the soap dispenser opening but those are the only noises it makes.It is not washing or rinsing at all and then it won’t drain either.Don’t know if the dry cycle is operating since it stays full of water.I know I can fix it but don’t know how to diagnos exactly what part has gone bad.Please help if you can.

Check behind the kick plate for the wiring diagram, it may be tapes to the tub or the back of the kick plate.
First I would remove the kick plate and see if the motor is getting voltage when it should (120 volts).
If it is then it is either the motor is shot or jammed . Though if it is jammed you should hear a hum/buzz.
If no voltage then you may have a timer problem.
Also check that the wires from the timer to the motor are OK. Best to check with a meter as it could be an internal break.
