My dishwasher is making a “growling” noise when washing. It doesn’t always do it. it almost sounds like plastic gears that are not meshing
properly. Any ideas what is causing this?
I need you to monitor the dishwasher to verify if it makes that noise when it fills up with water or when the wash pump is running.
Gene.
It only makes the noise when the dishwasher is full of water and the pump is running.
In that case, most likely there is a foreign object inside the pump goes through the grinder. It should stop as soon as it’ll go through.
How old is the dishwasher?
If it’s less then 2 years, it’s still under the manufacturer warranty.

It is only 5 months past warranty. what is the procedure to get to the foreign object in the pump?
Had the same problem. Found the fix here:

Seems the problem is the water pipe that feeds the upper rack rotating sprayer. Usually a clip broken that secures the pipe to the bottom of the upper rack. I fixed mine with a plastic wire-bundle tie that can’t rust. Hope this helps!
