Dishwasher leaking in bottom center of door

What happens & when: Water leaks at bottom of door after filling up and unit starts up. Could I have a bad water inlet valve that is letting in to much water? It does not leak at any other time during cycle.

Based on your description, I do not think the water inlet valve is the most likely cause.

If the inlet valve were sticking open or allowing too much water into the dishwasher, you would typically see the tub overfill and water leak during the fill cycle or continue leaking even when the dishwasher is idle. Since your dishwasher only leaks after the fill is complete and the wash motor starts, that points more toward water being forced out of the tub rather than too much water entering it.

Here are the most likely causes, in order:

  1. Lower door seal or door gasket issue (Most Likely)

    • Inspect the lower door seal (bottom wiper seal) for tears, warping, or sections that have pulled away.

    • Check the side and top door gasket for cuts, flattening, or debris preventing a good seal.

  2. Lower spray arm damage or blockage

    • A cracked spray arm or clogged spray arm holes can create a concentrated stream of water that shoots directly at the bottom of the door.

    • Remove the lower spray arm and inspect it carefully for splits along the seams. Also make sure all spray holes are clear.

  3. Dishwasher not level

    • Verify the unit is level from side to side and slightly tilted toward the rear (or at least not tilted forward).

    • If the front is too low, wash water can splash over the bottom door seal.

  4. Over-sudsing

    • If regular dish soap was accidentally used, or too much rinse aid is present, excessive suds can force water past the door seal.

  5. Water inlet valve (Less Likely)

    • If you suspect overfilling, remove the toe kick and watch the fill cycle.

    • After filling stops, the water level should normally be just below the heating element.

    • If the water continues rising after the valve should have shut off, or it is noticeably above the heating element before the wash motor starts, then the inlet valve could indeed be sticking and should be replaced.

A couple of questions that will help narrow it down:

  • Does the leak begin immediately when you hear the wash motor start, or does it take a minute or two?

  • Is the water leaking from the center, left, or right side of the bottom of the door?

  • Have you recently replaced the lower spray arm, door seal, or used a different detergent?

Yesterday it went almost the entire cycle with out leaking At the very end it seemed to stutter or pause a second and then some water came out of the bottom center of door. I have taken lower spray arm and cleaned it. Not sure if I missed something.

At this point I am really suspecting a seal issue but i can’t figure out why it went a whole cycle before leaking

I have run dishwasher four times now with no leaks. I guess I will keep eye on it and not change any parts out,
