Dishwasher fills and drains and runs trough cycles but doesnt wash

I just recently purchased a house with a GE Triton Stainless Steel dishwasher. We loaded the dishwasher and ran it. The next morning when I opened the washer, I found a load of dirty dishes. I reran the washer to find it was filling and draining normally but during the wash cyclces there was no activity. There was no pump noise, no water cycling through the spray arms etc. Just filling, sitting and draining. It doesnt look like a very old machine. We do have high iron in our water, we have a well, and the inside of the machine has some staining inside. Any ideas please let me know, I would like to use this washer since it doesnt seem to be very old. Thanks!

Hi Ryan

Most likely the problem with your dishwasher is a frozen up main pump. You have two options:
a) You can try to rebuild the old pump. In that case you need the pump seal and impeller kit which comes with the complete instructions. The pump and motor assembly has to be removed from the dishwasher.
b) You have to replace the whole pump and motor assembly.

Also, I believe, your dishwasher is on the GE dishwashers recall due to problem with a rinse agent dispenser. You can verify it on the GE web site: http://www.geappliances.com/products/recall/dw07/
