Dishes smell fishy, wet dog

Whirlpool gold not more than two years old make the glasses smell like a wet dog. Have tried everything dishwasher magic, bleach, vinegar, ran drain hose directly to sink to make sure it was not the drain, pulled it out of cabinets to make sure there was nothing dead back there, cleaned water inlet valve which was a little dirty all to no avail. On city water and tested hot water anode and it is fine. Interior of plastic tub is spotless no smell except on racks and glasses. Need help it is driving me crazy. Have tried different soaps also and still smells.

Does sound like a drain problem to me.
Either sewer gas is getting back into the unit or it is siphoning sewer water back into the unit.

Is the drain attachment before or after the P-trap in the sink plumbing?

Below is a link to a decent drain install info sheet.

You could also try a different dishwasher detergent.
In spite of all the advertizing, the best dishwasher soap is still the old fashioned powders.

The drain goes into disposal before the trap. Have tried running the hose up into the top of the sink for a couple loads because I thought it was a drain issue. Had been using the powerball tablets for years, and have recently tried the cascade powder. Just started using cascade complete and the smell is not as strong. I think it could have just been a buildup of too much detergent with the powerball.
